Bored? Here Are a Few Ways to Occupy Your Time

Child Bored

Boredom is a feeling many of us are experiencing on a pretty regular basis right now. The coronavirus pandemic has resulted in many of us spending most of our days and nights sprawled around different spots of our homes. Many of us can’t go to work. Many of us can’t see friends and family. Instead, we are confined to our homes to control the spread of the virus.

This is extremely important—for our own health, others’ health and to reduce pressure on our healthcare systems—but it’s not all too surprising that many of us are feeling as though we have little to nothing to do. After all, many of our hobbies and usual pastimes tend to be outside of the house. The good news is that there are plenty of ways to occupy your time and lift your spirits right now. Here are just a few you might like to consider!

Learn a Language

Why not pick up a useful skill with your time? Challenge yourself with learning a language you’re unfamiliar with. You don’t necessarily need lessons. Instead, there are plenty of online and virtual resources that you can really benefit from. Why not consider Rosetta Stone, Babbel, or Duolingo? These language-learning software and app options are renowned for being great!

However, you can also upgrade your skills in a language that you already speak, especially if you’re planning on building a career that requires it. Many people learn business English online so they can improve their positions within their respective companies. Learning a language not only opens doors to new job opportunities, but it also expands your cultural horizons and can even improve cognitive function.

Games

If you’re already into gaming, chances are you’ve been spending a fair amount of time on whatever console you own. But if you haven’t tried gaming before, now could be a good time to get involved and occupy yourself with missions, tasks, and more! Now, you don’t even necessarily have to fork out for your own console. This could perhaps be unfeasible, seeing as many people are struggling financially right now. But you can play online games like racing games for now! These are easy to access. All you need is an internet connection!

Exercise

We should still be getting our recommended one hundred and fifty minutes of moderate aerobic exercise a week, even while gyms, fitness classes, and sports clubs are closed. Consider some home workouts. There are plenty of free, follow-through tutorials online. If you’re really invested, you can get some home workout equipment to help yourself. Resistance bands, yoga mats, exercise balls, and more are all really useful! Just remember to stay safe and avoid pushing yourself too far.

Baking

You’ve probably noticed from the lack of baking supplies in stores that a lot of people have gotten into baking lately. But if you see some flour, sugar, and other baking essentials on the shelves of your local store, why not pick them up and try baking something yourself? Sponges, loaf cakes, doughnuts, bread—the options are endless!

These are just a few ideas that should help to get the ball rolling when it comes to finding ways to occupy your time during this difficult period. Hopefully, some of these options will help to keep you occupied and lift your spirits!
