Today it’s all about my big brother Mikael. If you’re a regular reader you know that Mikael is autistic. He actually just turned 10, yes he had a birthday a week ago but he has the mental capacity of a 6 year old. So when VTech asked me to do a review of their InnoTab Max, I thought that this would be perfect for my big brother Mikael. After all it also makes a great birthday gift too. The VTech InnoTab Max is designed for children ages 3-9 and is their newest tablet with an Android operating system. It is also one of the fastest tablets that VTech has currently for kids and retails at $109.99.
Included with your VTech InnoTab Max is a rechargeable lithium battery and 18 included apps. Once you register, you get two additional free downloads in the learning lodge, which is the cool name for their app store. Yes there’s an app store where you can download new games, so there really is no need to run to the store to buy additional cartridges. The InnoTab Max features a 7” high-resolution multi-touch screen display, 8gb of storage (expandable to 40gb) and a 180° rotating camera which little ones will enjoy using, since it features over 60 fun photo effects.
The set up was very easy, almost one of the easiest that we have ever done. The InnoTab MAX features an enhanced 2nd generation version of Premium VTech Kid Connect, at no additional charge, allowing children and parents to exchange voice and text messages, photos, drawings and fun stickers in real time between the tablet and a smartphone. Mommy really loves this feature as she gets home at crazy hours at times so it’s a way to check in on Mikael. All it takes is a quick download on her phone and it’s super easy to use.
Check out the video below explaining how the VTech Kid Connect works.
The InnoTab Max is designed to grow with your child for years of learning fun and comes pre-loaded with 15 apps including My Magic Beanstalk, Wonder Cam Max where you can create funny faces and photo frames, EBooks, Art Studio, Movie Maker and much more. You also have access to more than 650 educator-endorsed, age and stage appropriate learning titles as well as carefully cultivated educational Android apps that can be purchased and downloaded through VTech’s Learning Lodge® app store.
One of the feature we loved is that you can have up to 4 profiles on the InnoTab Max. That means that each child will have their separate profile so there is no need for any of them to use the others. You can start from where you left off easily once you get back on your InnoTab Max. It also means that each profile will be based upon your child’s age and learning ability. In my case I would have toddler related apps while my brother would have a little bit harder ones that I might not be able to do.
The InnoTab MAX also features kid-safe Wi-Fi so kids can explore appropriate online games, videos and websites that have been pre-selected by VTech. Parental controls allow parents to manage their child’s apps, web access and tablet time, as well as view a progress log.
Mommy loves that the VTech InnoTab Max is safe and has appropriate apps for Mikael and even myself to use. She also loves that they’re educational too, after all, all play and no work makes Mikael a dull boy, or was that the other way around?
Parents are truly going to love the VTech Kid Connect and kids are going to love the InnoTab Max!
There are so many things to do on an InnoTab Max and the possibility becomes endless when you take into consideration the learning lodge. This is a fun and educational tablet for all kids and as you can see, fun and educational for autistic kids too. It gets Mikael’s BIG THUMBS UP!
