Thanksgiving is almost upon us, didn’t we just celebrate Halloween? I can’t believe that in just a few weeks we will all be sitting down at the table having Thanksgiving dinner with family and friends. Giving thanks for all that we’ve gotten throughout the year. Today I want to share with you a treat that I think you will enjoy making with your kids. They’ll also enjoy looking at the final results as much as we do. While we love our Turkey dinners at Thanksgiving, it can also be fun making a treat the kids would enjoy as well. It’s also a great way to get rid of all the Halloween left over candy. How about our Turkey Pretzel Rods? Don’t they just look too cute to eat?
Here is what you’ll need:
Ingredients
Pretzel Rods
Reese’s Pieces, orange and yellows, cut in half
Chocolate Chips, or candy melts
Candy corn, assorted
Candy Pearls
Chocolate Rice Cereal
Instructions
Break Pretzel Rods in half.
Melt Chocolate in microwave, 30 seconds and stir, 15 second increments stirring after each until melted and smooth, let sit at least 5 minutes to set up just a little to make it easier to work with.
On a piece of wax paper lay out 3 candy corns in a fan shape with the pointy side in.
Using a spoon cover a Pretzel Rod with Chocolate. Leave a little extra on the top back part to stick to the candy corn.
Lay the Chocolate covered pretzel over the Candy Corn so they stick out the tops.
Apply 2 Pearls for eyes at the top end by the Candy Corn. You may need to hold them for a few seconds so they set.
Using a toothpick, dab it in the Chocolate and gently apply a dot to each pearl.
Place a half piece of a Reese’s pieces under the Pearls for the beak.
Coat with cereal for the feathers.
Let cool and set at least 30 minutes. Gently remove from wax paper and store in airtight container in cool place.
Eat and enjoy! So what do you think of our Turkey Pretzel Rods?
