I’ve always been in love with the CHANEL brand, but it wasn’t until I became an adult that I could finally purchase it for myself. I started out with their fragrance and made my way up to their bags, as plopping down five thousand dollars for a handbag is no small feat.
I remember purchasing my first CHANEL fragrance. I was at a loss as to which to get for myself, and the lady at the beauty counter at Macy’s insisted that I get CHANEL N°5 as it was their iconic fragrance at the time. Now CHANEL offers various fragrances, some flankers, and while they all smell great, there are just some that smell better than others.
I think that everyone should own a piece of CHANEL in their wardrobe, and starting with their fragrance is a great way to build your collection. And today, we’re sharing with you CHANEL’s top five perfume fragrances, in no particular order.
1. CHANEL N°5 – (Eau de Parfum)
Fragrance Family: Floral
Top Notes: Aldehydes, Ylang-Ylang, Neroli, Bergamot, and Peach
How can this not be No. 1? CHANEL N°5 is not only iconic and timeless but is also sophisticated, powerful, and elegant. If you love musky, powdery scents, then this is the fragrance for you. This has a nice rich and creamy dry-down, and the longevity (sillage) of this fragrance lasts quite a long time.
2. CHANEL CHANCE EAU TENDRE – (Eau de Parfum)

I may actually be a little biased, but I think this might be my favorite CHANEL fragrance of all time. CHANEL Chance Eau Tendre is a floral, fruity fragrance. It is truly a heavenly feminine fragrance that is light and fresh. This is the perfect year-round fragrance, with hints of grapefruit and rose. If you had to get a CHANEL fragrance but could only choose one, I say get this first.
3. CHANEL COCO MADEMOISELLE – (Eau de Parfum)
Fragrance Family: Floral
CHANEL Coco Mademoiselle is a citrus oriental floral, and if you’re a fan of roses and patchouli, then you’ll love this one. This is a sophisticated scent that is best worn on date nights. The sillage on this lasts about 10 hours on the skin and about 24 hours on clothing.
4. CHANEL GABRIELLE – (Eau de Parfum)
Fragrance Family: Floral
Gabrielle is a sophisticated, white floral, slightly citrusy scent that is chic, clean, elegant, and sophisticated. You can smell the jasmine in this one. However, I would recommend wearing this during the warmer months.
5. CHANEL ALLURE – (Eau de Parfum)

If you’re a fan of vanilla fragrances, then you’re going to absolutely love CHANEL Allure. This is a warmer floral that is simply unique and has a life of its own. The vanilla mixed with the citrus makes this smell so divine. This is also one that doesn’t come in the classic CHANEL shaped bottle but one you would love to have in your collection.
Bonus: CHANEL COCO NOIR – (Eau de Parfum)
Fragrance Family: Floral
CHANEL Coco Noir is more of an oriental woody fragrance and one that I had to add to the list. After CHANEL Chance Eau Tendre, this is another of the best scents that CHANEL has to offer. CHANEL Coco Noir is the perfect winter scent that is both mysterious and nocturnal. This is the perfect mix of rose and patchouli. You won’t regret purchasing CHANEL Coco Noir.
