Things to Do with Your Kids on Mother’s Day – #SoWorthIt

Today we share things to do with your kids on Mother’s Day and how JCPenney can help, because mother’s are #SoWorthIt.

Mother’s Day is the perfect time to call the shots. On this day, if on no other, you dictate how things will go! You may want to be pampered, appreciated and given “the day off” from mommy duty, or you may not be able to fathom spending the day without your children. Whether you have to or want to hang with the kiddos on this day, there are plenty of great ways to make the day special. Here’s a list of things to do with your kids on Mother’s Day that will create memories for years to come.

Go to the theater. Be it the movie theater, the ballet, a Broadway musical or a community theater play, go see a show. Introduce your kids to the performing arts and see something you’ve been wanting to for a long time. Oh, and take full advantage of the concession bar! If you’re looking for something to wear, then you can check out JCPenney‘s wide range of clothing for both adults and children alike.

Visit the Salon. This will be a fun activity if you only have one or two children, and if they’re old enough to enjoy it. When your kids are forced to sit still, it’s a great time to get to know them better. Talk about school and their interests, but avoid anything too heavy or you’ll be held captive in awkwardness. Have you checked out JCPenney’s Salon Services?

Plan a picnic in the park or on the beach. While it may not seem like anything special, when is the last time you seriously did this? Weather permitting, get outdoors! Pack special foods you don’t often buy. Try new things! Be sure to bring activities for while you’re there. Taking this time to unplug with your children will be worth it.

Go to a children’s museum. Make an entire day of exploring either your local children’s museum, or one that’s a little bit of a drive away. Let your inner child out to play with the kids and maybe even learn something new.

Get crafty. Remember when you were a kid and had fun making arts and crafts, even if you had zero artistic ability? It’s a stress reliever, and a great way to express yourself. You likely have a paint-your-own-pottery studio, or something similar, in your town. Bring your kids and enjoy creating in a space where someone else has to deal with the mess!

Go out to eat just for dessert. Since your kids were probably going to give or make you something sweet anyway, blow their minds by going out to a fancy restaurant just for the desserts!

Take me out to the ball game! Take the family to a baseball or soccer game (or any other games of your choosing). Dress the part, root for the team, and eat concession stand food!

Take a vacation. Go big or go small, as long as you get away! Plan a weekend excursion or a week-long adventure. Take a drive, a cruise or a flight…just go somewhere new that YOU’VE wanted to see. (While it’s a family trip, it’s still your day, and they’ll have fun just having a change in scenery.)

Go shopping

If all else fails, go shopping. There’s nothing better than a bit of retail therapy. I particularly love shopping at JCPenney. They are my shopping destination of choice because they have such a wide variety of merchandise. From clothing to products for my home, I can find it all at JCPenney at affordable prices too.

For Mother’s Day my family and I always go out to dinner and I’ve already gotten my clothing assemble. I got it at JCPenney and you can get my look by shopping at JCPenney too.
