With the weather getting colder and colder it’s time to dress warmer. When going out I am usually bundled and dressed in layers. I don’t particularly like the cold and the warmer I am the better it is for not just me but mommy as well. I usually let my discomfort be known and mommy hates the whining. I don’t mind it at all. Lately mommy and I have been looking at the Scandinavian line of clothing which we love. Not only are their designs unique but the quality is amazing. When mommy was offered to do a review and host a giveaway for Ella’s Wool how could she say no? After all I did want to be warm and stay warm. Not only that but the owner Vibeke was a Brooklyn transplant. Mommy having just moved from Brooklyn herself felt a connection with Vibeke so when they started talking it was a given.
Ella’s Wool was established in 2012 by a Norwegian Mother who couldn’t find quality warm clothes for her little ones. By “warm clothes” she meant wool. Vibeke couldn’t believe that wool clothes weren’t in every American child’s wardrobe as it was back in her homeland Norway. A super soft, thin merino wool layer under clothes when it’s below 50°F can actually keep your little one warm. She made it her mission to inform as many parents as possible about all the benefits of pure wool, so that children can play outside all year round.
Mommy and I received the Base Layer Merino Wool Top and the Base Layer Merino Wool Long Johns to review.
This high quality, organic 70% merino wool and 30% silk top from Engel is made with care. Your child will stay warm the most comfortable way. It’s so easy to move and play! This top should be worn next to skin to benefit from the wool’s great properties. In a natural way, the fabric wicks away moisture from the skin and leave your child perfectly warm and dry.
All base layers from Ella’s Wool are machine washable at Hand Wash program with wool detergent.
$39 – Sizes 2-10y
The quality of these pieces were super amazing. It was soft to the touch and did not feel like anything that I was thinking about. Usually when you hear of wool you think of itchiness but not these. I am really loving these pieces. It’s recommended that nothing should fit between you and your base layer and when I put them on they fit like a glove. Almost reminds me of pajamas but nicer. They are also machine washable which is perfect for us as well.
From what mommy learned about Merino Wool there are so many benefits from wearing it. It not only keeps you warm but acts as a natural air condition as well. It’s also flame retardant. Who would have thought that? With safety being the number one priority for mommies and daddies it is good to know that our clothing won’t melt in the case of a fire.
These warm, super soft long johns are the perfect fit for an active child. Made of 70% organic merino wool and 30% silk. Color is Light purple. Our merino wool base layer long underwear keeps your child dry and comfortable and the fabric feels warm even when wet.
When it’s below 50 °F (12 °C), simply put merino wool tights on underneath, and your child can go out and play. Cozy!

Vibeke has decided to make an infographic helping mommies and daddies figure out the best way to keep their little one’s warm while wearing wool.
Ella’s Wool is available from sizes newborn all the way to size 10 kids (in base layers) and they are available for both boys and girls. I am really looking forward to wearing my Ella’s Wool pieces during my trip to Canada this Christmas. I know that I will be warm and cozy. Ella’s Wool gets my Two Tiny Thumbs Up!
