St. Patrick’s Day Books for Kids

Looking for some fun St. Patrick’s Day books to read with your kids? Check out our top picks!!

It’s St. Patrick’s Day! Who’s feeling lucky? I know that I am. Today is Toddler Book Talk Tuesday, and I want to share with you a few books that are perfect for the day. Mommy loves having books dedicated to holidays, so these are books that are actually in my library collection.

If you are looking for St. Patrick’s Day books for your kids to celebrate the day, you might want to check these out at your local library or book store. Today we’ll be taking a quick look at Ten Lucky Leprechauns, The Night Before St. Patrick’s Day and The Luckiest St. Patrick’s Day Ever!.

Now let us start off with Ten Lucky Leprechauns written by Kathryn Heling (a school psychologist) and Deborah Hembrook (a kindergarten teacher) and illustrated by Jay Johnson. This book is perfect for beginning readers and is filled with lots of rhyming fun about ten lucky leprechaun friends. The illustrations will keep your little ones entertained, and while it’s fun reading, they will also be learning how to count to ten. I would say pick this one up for your little one’s library. It’s perfect for ages 1–5.

Next is The Night Before St. Patrick’s Day, written by Natasha Wing and illustrated by Amy Wummer. If you’re thinking “Twas the Night Before Christmas,” you’re not too far off, but this has a St. Patrick’s Day twist. It’s all about Tim and Maureen, who were the only ones up that night, setting traps around the house in the hope of catching a leprechaun. They did indeed catch a leprechaun, but what they don’t realize is how tricky leprechauns can truly be. The kids will enjoy reading along with the story and trying to find the hidden leprechaun on each page. This book is recommended for ages 4–8.

Now finally, The Luckiest St. Patrick’s Day Ever, written by Teddy Slater and illustrated by Ethan Long.

The St. Patrick’s Day parade is ready to start.

The Leprechauns are marching with lots of heart.

If you follow along, you’ll find laughter and fun –

And the luck of the Irish – before day is done!

This cute book follows along a Leprechaun family as they celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. First, they start off by having a parade filled with music, which is then followed by lunch at home with the family. The kids will enjoy the beautiful illustrations and learning about how the Leprechauns celebrate March 17th.

I really enjoyed reading them all, and I hope you’re able to pick them up for your own little one next year. Have a beautiful St. Patrick’s Day, and May the Luck of the Irish be With You Today!
