Pumpkin Spice and everything nice, that’s what Fall is made of, and one reason you’ll love our Scary Pumpkin Spice Hot Chocolate drink.
The Fall season hasn’t officially started, but everything pumpkin is already in stores. I was shocked when a few weeks ago, I went to my local Hobby Lobby, and the stores were already decorated for the holidays. It seems that the seasons seem to sneak up on us sooner than we realize. I used to think that Christmas in July was just a saying, but apparently, it’s a real thing.
I enjoy decorating for the seasons, and Fall is one of my favorite. The cool weather after experiencing our incredibly hot summer this year is a welcomed change. I relish all the Fall drinks, the Fall colors and everything Fall related. One of my favorite stores besides Hobby Lobby when it comes to decorating my home is Home Goods. You can either find them as stand-alone stores or in your local T.J. Maxx. On one of our most recent visits, Madison picked up this “scary” mug and some sprinkles in the home section, which inspired this recipe. She couldn’t wait to make it, and I couldn’t wait to oblige her.
I have to say that not only is this super easy to recreate, but it’s absolutely delicious, and Madison approved. After making my first batch, I ended up making a second because the other kids wanted as well, so it’s now a family-approved recipe.
SCARY PUMPKIN SPICE HOT CHOCOLATE DRINK RECIPE
Here’s what you’ll need:
INGREDIENTS NEEDED
4 cups of organic whole milk (grassfed tastes best)
½ cup white chocolate chips
A pinch of pumpkin pie spice (learn how to make your own)
Orange food coloring (I have a preference for gel)
Whipped cream
Sprinkles for topping
SUPPLIES NEEDED
Small pan or pot
Microwaveable bowl
Favorite mug
DIRECTIONS
(I tried this two different ways, first by adding the milk and chocolate chips in a pan on the stove, but this way I’m sharing was a lot easier, although both ways gave the same desired result.)
Step 1. Add the white chocolate chips in a microwaveable bowl and melt for at least 30 – 45 seconds. It melts a lot easier this way when you combine it with the milk.
Step 2. Add the milk, melted chocolate, and pumpkin pie spice to a pan or small pot on medium heat until no trace of the melted chocolate chips remains.
Step 3. Add a few drops of orange coloring until the milk turns into the perfect pumpkin color that you desire.
Step 4. Pour into your favorite mug and top with whipped cream and sprinkles. Remember your drink will be hot so your whipped cream will melt rather quickly.
Step 5. Drink and enjoy!
I told you that it was simple and straightforward but delicious! This Scary Pumpkin Spice Hot Chocolate Drink will be a hit with the kids not just for fall but for Halloween as well. You can change the colors of your coloring to black for Halloween, add some edible googly eyes, and make it even scarier. Enjoy!
