Rice Krispie Treat Carrots

Easter will be here before you know it and you’re probably already preparing your Easter baskets. It’s one holiday that the kids absolutely enjoy. If you’ve been with with me for a while you may have heard me say that we don’t do candy or soda in my house. It’s a rare treat and so the kids just long for these holidays when they can get a candy or two in their baskets. So you’ve probably gotten your eggs together, your dye kits and you’re all set for the big day. While we love hunting for eggs we also love doing other things together. One of those is making quick and easy Easter treats like these Rice Krispie Treat Carrots. If your kids aren’t fan of carrots they’ll definitely be a fan of these. They are going to need help shaping them but besides that the kids will just love doing them on their own. Nothing like having the kids help out in the kitchen and kids just love eating what they prepare. It’s a great way to get kids to try new and exciting foods.

*Makes 8 servings

Here is what you’ll need:

Ingredients:

1 8ct package of Kelloggs Rice Krispie Treats

Wilton gel frosting in Orange

Green Laffy Taffy (carrot stems)

Paring knife

Toothpicks

*Wilton products are located in the Wilton aisle at major retailers and craft stores

Directions:

Open each Rice Krispie Treat and discard the wrappers.

Use the paring knife to slice the sides of the treat making it into a triangle shape (see photo below).

Use a toothpick to make a small hole in the top of each ‘carrot’.

Use the paring knife to cut 3-4 Laffy Taffy pieces into skinny strips.

I cut the strips and then rolled between my hand making them look like stems.

Put the ‘stems’ into the hole at the top of carrot.

Finally, use the orange gel frosting to decorate each carrot. I simply zig-zagged back and forth making it orange.

Easy and cute for Easter and would look great in any Easter basket. Let me know if you make them how they turned out. I like hearing all about your experiences.
