I just love reading and have quite a collection of books. It’s the one thing that I just love to do, even if it’s just looking at the picture. Books can take you to a whole new world, and there is so much to learn just from reading or looking at the pictures in a book. Today I want to talk to you about Jumpstart’s “Read for the Record” the world’s largest shared reading experience. As the official sponsors of childhood, Gymboree has supported Read for the Record since its inception; and, this year, they’ll be hosting multiple reading events at their stores on October 21. They’ll be reading together to generate awareness on the importance of early education and Jumpstart’s mission to prepare every child in America to enter kindergarten prepared to succeed.
Here are some facts and event details:
Jumpstart is a national early education organization that helps develop language and literacy skills in low-income neighborhoods. The organization works towards a day when every child enters kindergarten with the language skills they need to succeed. Read for the Record is the world’s largest shared reading experience. Each year, families and organizations around the world read the same book, on the same day, to promote literacy.
This year, they will be reading the selected book – Bunny Cakes – in each Gymboree, Gymboree Play & Music, Crazy 8, and Janie and Jack retail locations. Readings will take place at 10am, 12pm, 2pm, and 4pm.
So how do you get a copy of the book Bunny Cakes so you can join along?
