Yes it’s still Toddler Book Talk Tuesday and we still have more books to share with you today. We’re sticking to our theme of love with it being so close to Valentines Day. I can’t believe that in less than 2 weeks that day that is filled with love will be here. While the day may seem as if it belongs to the grown ups it really isn’t. It belongs to everyone and what better way to introduce your little ones to that special day than through books. If you’re looking for books to delight and introduce your little ones to this day, let me tell you about this one. It’s Love and Kisses written by Sarah Wilson and illustrated by Melissa Sweet.
I received Love and Kisses by Sarah Wilson in the Board Book edition. It’s my first book by Sarah Wilson and I’m glad that I got it. It has a recommended age for children ages 0-3 but I’m sure it can go a lot higher. Love and Kisses is filled with beautifully colored, bold and fun illustrations, and the words are simple enough for little ones to memorize over time.
It all starts off with a little girl who kisses her cat and the cycle begins. The cat then kisses the cow and the cow kisses a goose. The simplistic story teaches how everything goes around in a circle and what you give just may come back to you.
While you’re reading your little one gets to learn the different animals in the story as well. I love how these book teaches without you realizing it.
Here’s a little excerpt from the book:
“The fox may kiss a frog.
The frog may jump to plant a kiss upon a friendly dog.
The dog may kiss a frisky horse and catch him by surprise.
The horse may kiss a red-winged bird with twinkle in her eyes”
Love and Kisses makes not only the perfect Valentine Day book for little ones, but also a great bedtime book too. Make it a part of your little one’s bedtime routine and blow a kiss and let it go, after all you never know how love will grow.
Recommended age: 0-3
