We’re continuing our theme this week with Child Passenger Safety with another amazing car seat that those of you with toddlers will absolutely love. Introducing the Kiddy World Plus Convertible Car Seat. Each car seat that we will be featuring this week are all unique in their own way and you have the choice to choose which is best for you and your family.  Kiddy is a family-owned and managed company for over 40 years, located in Bavaria, Germany. With their experience in successfully working with the automotive industry and specializing in the “mobility of children”, their products are providing their customer with quality German engineering and design. As parents themselves, children’s safety has always been a priority to the owners of Kiddy.

Now to get into the details and review of our Kiddy World Plus Convertible Car Seat. This car seat is suitable for little ones from 22lbs to 110lbs. The Kiddy World Plus is a German-designed and engineered forward-facing combination child-restraint seat which means that you’re only able to use this once you turn your little ones around. Usually at the recommended age of 2.

Now this is the feature that I really want to highlight with the Kiddy World Plus. This seat uses a Protection Shield in place of a traditional harness and while we thought that was strange, after reading more about it and actually watching the video we finally understood why. It also makes perfect sense!

The Kiddy Protection Shield was created with children and injury prevention in mind. Its design incorporates EPP foam in the shield to help energy absorption in the event of a collision. A traditional harness holds a child in such a manner that the energy in a frontal crash is absorbed solely through the neck area. With the Protection Shield, it creates a rolling effect and the energy is absorbed through the upper portion of the body rather than the concentrated area of the neck, therefore minimizing the effects of whiplash and risk of a neck injury.

The Kiddy World Plus has a 12 position adjustable headrest that can be operated with just one hand. Super easy to use. Since there is no harness there is no need to worry about rethreading which mommy just hates in car seats.  The seatbelt guide for the booster is also easily accessible. The seat meets both US and European safety standards and offers side-impact protection with energy-absorbing EPS foam. This seat also offers a convenient 4-piece easily removable trim cover.

The Kiddy World Plus comes with a cushion insert which folds and unfolds in order to properly position your child relative to the Kiddy Protection Shield. In order to prevent shifting and properly secure your child, the insert easily snaps to the main trim cover. The material is comfortable and breathable, and best of all it can all be removed and thrown in the wash when dirty and hung to dry.

The Kiddy World Plush can be installed with the latch system, the vehicle 3 point seat belt, lap belt and it also has top tether. Since our Dodge Grand Caravan has the latch system installed, my parents were able to install it super easy. Not sure how easy it would be to install in a vehicle without the latch system but I’m sure it can’t be too difficult.

Another thing we loved about it was the small profile. Since it isn’t too big or bulky you’ll be able fit 2 of these very comfortably in a smaller vehicle, maybe even 3.

With my safety shield in place I’m no longer able to unbuckle myself from my car seat since the buckle is at the side of the seat. Mommy is now reassured that I am completely safe. Yes I knew how to unbuckle my seat belt and mommy wasn’t always happy when I did. Although I admit that I never did it when the vehicle was moving. For those children with special needs who hate being confined in a traditional harness this car seat is perfect for them.

Weighing only 15lbs it’s not to heavy to move from car to car if you have multiple vehicles compared to other seats we’ve had in the past. It is also been approved for aircraft use. Do I recommend the Kiddy World Plus? You bet I do and that’s why it gets my TWO TINY THUMBS UP!

Age/Weight Requirements:
