5 Hairstyles That Are Making A Comeback

Hairstyles

Probably some of your favorite hairstyles came from the 1990s. The ’90s styles are back, and they’re some of the most incredible looks you can rock if you’re looking for an exciting look to wear on the weekends!

The ‘90s were known for hair, television, and movies. There was so much awesomeness from that era that we just couldn’t let it pass by. A good haircut never stays out of fashion. It usually finds its way back. It’s been a while since they had these on offer, but they’re back in popular demand, and we have a lot of fun styles for you to test out. Make the weekend fun by taking your girlfriends to try them out. We won’t judge you. You’ll have trouble choosing one because there are many styles available.

A great many retro haircuts and styles are returning, so every generation is being “reborn.” Let’s take a look at the old-school haircuts that are coming back, all the way from the 1920s to today:

  1. The Shag

Several layers frame and add volume to the face in the old-school shag haircut. This haircut works equally well, whether the hair is short or long. The Cut reports that it was worn by one of the most famous ladies of the 1970s, Jane Fonda, who was known for her rebellious and adventurous hairstyle. Singers like Joan Jett and Debbie Harry carried through the shag craze into the 1980s, and then the trend continued in the ’90s with actresses like Meg Ryan.

A shaggy “do” gained popularity in modern times following the debut of Taylor Swift’s cut in 2019, and Alexa Chung is still sporting a shag “do” as of this writing. You don’t need to spend much time styling the shag, so you don’t have to tame your mane. Instead of trying to work with your natural texture, you can let it work with your haircut.

  1. Side Bangs

We’ve all had side bangs, right? It was probably the most popular hairstyle of the early 2000s. This consisted of a side part that’s rather deep and a thick enough side bang. Lauren Conrad and the Olsen twins sported this look, along with pretty much any Disney Channel actress on TV at the time. So, naturally, the rest of us needed to get side bangs too.

Interestingly, the old-school style is making a comeback. In January 2020, the British Vogue featured Taylor Swift in—you guessed it—side bangs. If you’re wondering, yes, this look works well on curly hair too. Don’t forget to enhance curls with product that will retain their natural bounce.

  1. The Lob

The lob, also known as the long bob, is an apparent modern haircut these days, but it’s by no means a new one. Actress Jean Harlow initially wore it in her bouncy curls; this old-school long bob dates from the 1930s.

In the ’70s, Diana Ross went with the long bob. Later, rock queen Debbie Harry styled her curly hair in a lengthened bob to style a lob for years into the ’90s. We’ve seen these lobs for decades, and it’s not expected to stop anytime soon.

Celebrities like Hailey Baldwin and Gabrielle Union are wearing trendy lobs these days. Round faces do well with the cut; however, it’s also easy to keep and looks great on everyone.

  1. Curtain Bangs

With Camila Cabello and Kacey Musgraves, this classic style was brought back to the mainstream in the year 2020. Consider your hair texture when achieving the look. If you experience damaged hair, apply some tips to straighten them back again before going for this new style.

The experts recommend applying a leave-on conditioner all over and blow-drying it either way to frame your face. Lastly, use hairspray all over to set the hair in place. Curtain bangs are a little easier to remove than traditional bangs, as they can be cut shorter or left longer until you want to clip them back.

  1. Pixie-Cut

The “Italian haircut” was a relaxed style back in the 1950s. Stars like Sophia Loren rocked this extended, loosely curled version of the pixie style. The “P” cut hairstyle became popular in the ’50s thanks to Lena Horne and Audrey Hepburn. The ’60s saw the pixie cut on the rise, but it peaked in 1966, thanks to Twiggy’s hairstyle.

Although the pixie’s popularity initially peaked, Harper’s Bazaar revealed the old-fashioned cut was one of the most popular haircut styles for 2020. Zac Efron wore a stunning bob for the Coach Fall 2020 show, and models from the Coach Spring 2020 show wore the hairstyle. The good news is that anyone can pull off this trend. Even circular faces can pull it off. If you have a circular face, all you need to do is add lots of volume to your hair, and you’re ready.

Conclusion

There are many old-fashioned hairstyles that just seem timeless. The secret, however, is: don’t follow the trend. Follow the hairstyle that defines and personifies the real you. You can rock any hairstyle with that great smile and confidence you have.
