Fun Ways to Stay Active This Spring Into Summer ~ #BringTheFun #OshKoshKids

Have you noticed the change in Madison? Do you see that smile?! And it’s not just because she loves the new OshKosh spring clothing line, which she does, but it’s because I’m now allowing her to do her thing and #BringTheFun!

Lately, I’ve been revamping the way I do things with Madison, in terms of the way we photograph her for the blog. Madison has grown up before my readers’ eyes and you’ve seen her as a baby, barely able to walk to now full-on running. Originally I was going to share tips on how to photograph your kids because after photographing Madison for the past almost six years, we can share a tip or two, but I’m going to save that post for another time.

I used to joke that I would take about 200 photos just to get one usable one with Madison because whenever you would ask her to take a photo, she would say “I don’t want to”, or “Can’t I do it another time?”. Well, those days are now gone. Instead of having her pose for photos, I take my photos whenever she’s out being active. That way I now have more natural photos, and not ones that I have to stage, and what a difference it has been. That’s why you now see smiles, instead of smirks, and that mean face that she was famous for.

The weather currently in Colorado Springs has been fantastic, with temperatures in the 70’s which means for us shorts and tees, and it’s been a blast. However, today I want to share with you some fun ways that you can have your kids stay active this spring right into summer.

Ride their bike

I’m all about getting the kids outdoors, especially if it’s a beautiful day. After all, why would you want to stay indoors playing video games, when you can go outside and enjoy the fresh air and get some exercise? I encourage Madison to get out for at least one hour a day, even during the winter months. Riding her bike is one activity that she enjoys. Not only is it fun, but it’s actually good exercise for the entire family. Get your bikes out and go riding around the neighborhood.

Jump around in the sprinklers

Do you remember when you were young and you lived to run around through the sprinklers while they were going? Well, you can still do that, and so can the kids. Just turn on the sprinklers and you both can have fun together. Who says that you have to be young to have fun? Running around not only burns calories but so does laughter, and laughter if you may remember is a great medicine.

Hula-Hoop

For the parents, do you remember the days of the hula-hoop? How many of you can actually still hula-hoop? I recently purchased a hula-hoop for Madison and she’s been having fun learning to hula and I’m having fun right along with her because I purchased one for me too. While she’s having fun, she’s also getting some exercise in, and so am I. This has been one of those times that you can see an actual smile on her face because she gets so into it. Can you see the fun?

Take a trip to the park

Visiting the park is one of the easiest and most economical ways to have fun while staying active. Not only do the kids get to socialize by playing with other kids, but they also get to burn off that energy that they usually have. Going down the slide, running, and even swinging on the swings. Adults can even join in the fun, and you also get to socialize with the other adults in the park, thus in turn maybe even making a new friend or two.

There are, however, days when you just want to relax, maybe take a trip to the zoo or even the mall. Do you realize how many steps you take visiting the animals, just walking around window shopping, or even while doing some retail therapy? Kids very rarely take leisurely strolls and are almost always running, which in turn make you run to keep up with them, giving you both exercise while enjoying something that you may both want to do.

Madison and I enjoy visiting the zoo because we tend to make it a learning experience. We get to learn about new animals, their habitat, and even their eating habits. Usually, by the time we leave, we are completely worn out.

Throughout it all, we like to stay comfortable while having fun, and OshKosh B’gosh is generally where I shop for Madison’s trendy clothing, all year round. Gone are the days of spending exorbitant sums of money on clothing that she will outgrow in very little time. Madison is growing like a weed and I’d much rather spend my hard-earned cash on travels and life experiences than on clothing. However, I still want her to look cool, and with OshKosh B’gosh, she’s not only dressed appropriately for her age, but their clothing is affordable and dependable. I’m confident outfitting her in clothing that will stand the test of time with her busy and active lifestyle.

Now that we’ve shared all our looks that you can wear when staying active this spring right into summer, I have a coupon that you can use to save on your own kids’ spring clothing.
