Fill Somebunny’s Basket With These Easter Books!

Can you believe that Easter is almost here? While most people are thinking of Easter Eggs and of course candy, here in our family we love books. From the day that Madison was born, actually, before she was born, I already had a library of books that I wanted her to read. Her very first books that we read together were Pat the Bunny and Goodnight Moon. Both have been staples in my kid’s library as newborns and ones I always recommend to other parents. Well with Easter on the way I also have a few suggestions for those Easter baskets. You can nourish the body with treats and nourish your little ones’ minds with these delightful Easter books for kids.

Too Many Carrots by Katy Hudson (ages 3-5)

Rabbit loves carrots.  Maybe a little too much. In fact, his carrots are crowding him out of his cozy burrow, and when his friends offer to help – that’s just asking for trouble. This charming and lovingly illustrated picture teaches children the value of friendships over material possessions, and features a range of engaging and delightful animal friends including a rabbit, a tortoise, a squirrel and a beaver.

Little Bo Peep and Her Bad, Bad Sheep: A Mother Goose Hullabaloo by A.L. Wegwerth (ages 4-8)

Illustrated by Luke Flowers

Little Bo Peep has lost her sheep … as usual. What starts out as a simple nursery rhyme quickly derails into mayhem. Bo Peep can’t find her sheep, but readers will, and they’ll be coaching Bo from the sidelines as they watch her mischievous sheep swiping mittens from kittens, toppling Humpty Dumpty, and trampling Mary’s garden. Dozens of beloved Mother Goose characters have cameos … and all have run-ins with the sheep. Readers will giggle all the way to the end when at last they can finish the rhyme, as the sheep (sheepishly) come home, wagging their tails, of course.

Honey Bunny by Charles Reasoner (ages 1-3)

What’s Honey Bunny up to on this nice spring day? Find out in this sweet die-cut board book. A simple rhyme and soft illustrations make this a great choice for welcoming spring.

Peep Peep by Charles Reasoner (ages 1-3)

Hooray…it’s spring and chick has hatched! Celebrate the newness of spring with this board book, full of fun rhyming text and charming illustrations.

Dessert Designer: Creations You Can Make and Eat! by Dana Meachen Rau (ages 8-14)

Design and decorate like a pro with no baking skills required! Using pre-made cupcakes, cookies, and cake, kids of all ages will learn fun tips and tricks.

Let’s discuss: Is there a special Easter book that you read along with your kids?
