When I was growing up, I had no idea how hard it would be to stay healthy as an adult.As a kid, I ran around outside. I played. I burned calories all day with my friends. I never worried about the gym. And when I was done for the day, I came home to a healthy, nutritious meal prepared by my parents.
I didn’t have to think about scheduling time for the gym between appointments on my busy schedule. I didn’t have to stress over dinner. Figuring out what to make at the end of a long, stressful day wasn’t my responsibility. I didn’t have to plan the menu, buy the groceries, or cook the food. All I had to do was show up.

That’s why I’ve identified a few “health hacks” that work for me, like:
Meal Prep Sundays.
Once the busy week is underway, there isn’t a ton of time to spend in the kitchen. Instead of stressing over dinner plans during the week and scrambling to make them happen, I spend some time on Sunday afternoon prepping our meals for the week. By chopping, dicing, and even pre-cooking some things before the week begins, I can get ahead for the week and make it easier to feed myself and my family.
Micro Workouts.
Just like I don’t have a ton of time to spend in the kitchen during the week, finding an hour or two to head to the gym is great in theory but challenging in practice. Instead, I’ve found I can squeeze little mini-workouts throughout my day to hit my step goals, boost my heart rate, and burn some calories. HIIT training during commercial breaks is my favorite!
