When you have children, no matter their age, toddlers, teens or tweens, sometimes the best time is family time spent together at home. You don’t always have to spend time outdoors to have fun, and it doesn’t have to include lots of money either. In collaboration with NABISCO, I want to share some family fun ideas that you can do at home.

As a mother of four, I’ve learned to become creative when it comes to having a blast at home, especially when there are snow days. For the past week, we’ve been having extremely terrible weather here in Colorado, and it seems as though Fall has bypassed Colorado and winter has come early as we’ve had a few snow days already. So what do you do when you would prefer to stay at home? Here are four ideas for family fun that you can do without having to leave the comfort of your home.
GAMES DAY/NIGHT
When was the last time you played a board game with the family? We have become so infatuated with social media that we don’t spend as much time as we should with family. Shut down the cell phone, get off social media and dust off the board games.
MOVIE NIGHT
While most think about going out when you say movie night, movie night can be done at home and will be much cheaper as well, and you don’t even have to get dressed. You can rent a movie or choose from your own collection, and don’t forget the snacks. Homemade popcorn, cookies and drinks will complete the night.
BACKYARD CAMPING
Camping doesn’t always have to be in the woods or at a camping ground. Pitch a tent in the backyard, grab some blankets and watch the stars. Sit back, relax, tell a few stories and connect with the family as you’ve never done before.
SCAVENGER HUNT
Scavenger hunt doesn’t always have to be just for easter hunting for eggs. You can put together a scavenger hunt for the family by placing little trinkets around the home and even the backyard. They’ll have a blast searching for hidden treasures and you’ll all have fun together.
When it comes to snacks, I always make sure that we have NABISCO products on hand, and with a family of six, the family packs are always a staple in my pantry. Now is an amazing time to dust off the board games or even plan a movie night, while stocking up on specially marked family-sized RITZ, OREO, and Chips Ahoy! at Walmart.
It’s also time to play the Collect to Win at Walmart game! I was able to find these specially marked family size packages in the cookies aisle, but they were also in the center aisle in a specially marked display.
