3 Easy Ways to Boost Your Teen’s Immunity This Fall 🍂~ #RainbowBoost

It’s Fall, and while I love the changing of the leaves and the cooler weather, I’ve however noticed that it’s also the time when my family seems to get sick most. While colds and the flu are normally rampant during the fall season, there are a few ways you can boost your teen’s immunity to reduce the likelihood of them getting sick.

As a mother of teenagers, life can be trying. Not only are my teens growing up, but they are also, however, not quite adults as yet. The teenage years can be stressful, and not only physically but emotionally as well. With exams, heavy class schedules, sports etc, and their lack of sleep can mean disaster, making them more vulnerable to getting sick. That can impact their schoolwork and extracurricular activities. 1. SLEEP 

We all know that sleep is very important, however, teenagers seem to have a love/hate relationship with sleep. I know from experience since both of my boys think that they can get away with only 2-3hours of it. However, what that usually means is that they’re tired during the day. Teenagers should still be getting at least 9 hours of sleep a night because their bodies are still developing and they need it.

Encourage your teen to go to bed earlier so that they can get the sleep they need, as sleep deprivation can have an impact on their immunity.

2. DIET. 

Just like sleep, a well-balanced meal is important to enhance your teen’s immune system. However, getting your teen to eat healthily can be like pulling teeth. While you may be able to control what they eat at home, you’re not able to do so when they’re out with their friends, or even while at school. Start by providing them with a healthy breakfast, and if possible a packed lunch as well, then finish it off with dinner. Incorporate as many fruits and veggies which are a good source of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants as you can in their diet in order to enable them to get their five servings, and don’t forget to include water.
