What’s a kids best friend? I would say my pets! In my household we have a cat who is really my best friend, a dog and fishes. We’re a household that enjoys our pets. My pet dog Gizmo loves running around and playing with me and I love playing with him as well. He’s more my big sister’s dog and sleeps with her on her bed. Kitty on the other hand totally belongs to me. I picked her out of her litter and when mommy brought her home I decided that she was going to be mine from that day forth. You may have seen her in a few of my photos totally chillaxing with me. She’s the sweetest thing and I love her with all my heart. When the makers of Brian the Pekingese contacted me about reviewing their unique line of products I was intrigued. My own doggy is a Shih-Tzu and I had never seen a Pekingese before. I also loved why the line was made which I will share with you.
The american tradition of spending quality time with our folks, siblings and the family dog was what drove Angela and Wes Bentley, creators of Brian the Pekingese to create the brand. Inspired by the Bentley’s family dog, Brian, a fun and affection loving Pekingese who immediately took to his new human baby brother.
“Angela and I created the brand after we brought our newborn son home from the hospital,” says Wes. “We were pleasantly amazed at how our dog, Brian, bonded with the baby and took to sleeping under his crib to protect him and barking to alert us when the baby cried. Brian instantly became our son’s first best friend.”
Adds Angela, who is in the fashion industry, “We see our products not just as products, but as a family lifestyle brand that is differentiated by promoting and strengthening the bond with and role of the family dog in young children’s lives.”
Mommy and I were sent the Girls Purple Daisy Print Pajama and Brian the Pekingese Plush Toy. From the moment I saw Brian he became my new favorite toy. My sleep buddy! He’s pretty soft and has no little parts to ingest making him perfect for even the smallest of babies. Just cuddling with him reminds me a lot of my own doggie. I love cuddling with my Gizmo and I can certainly understand why Brian is special.
The pajamas are strictly made in the USA, from fine 100% pre-washed cotton for comfortable softness and resilience to shrinking. The prints were thoughtfully selected to impart a sense of joy and vibrant color in the children who wear them. They were really soft and as you can see from my photo below the print really does stand out. It’s purple daisies with Brian running through them. It features an elasticized waistband that doesn’t leave marks around my tummy either. Right now the colors available are Purple, Pink, Brown and Blue and starts from size 18 months to 5T. I received size 2T and the fit was just right. One thing to note is that it is not flame resistant and its recommended that it fit snugly.
I am in love with this line and would suggest if getting the PJ’s that you include Brian the plush as well. This makes great gifts for the little ones in your life, the cousins, sons, daughters, granddaughters etc. There are plans for a future line extensions which would include bedtime storybooks featuring Brian, as well as different styles of slippers and other pajamas and we can’t wait for them to show up.
Brian the Pekingese gets my TWO TINY THUMBS UP!
