Chocolate Candy Snowman

The holidays mean building snowmen in the snow, drinking hot chocolate and baking cookies. It’s also filled with lots of Christmas carols. One of our favorite Christmas song is actually Frosty the Snowman. While we may not have had a lot of snow as yet to build a real Frosty the Snowman, we have however come up with lots of ways to make edible ones. Today I want to share with you our Chocolate Candy Snowman. Two of our favorite Christmas things combined as one.

Here is what you’ll need:

Ingredients:

12 oz Wilton white candy melts

6 oz. Wilton black candy melts

6 oz. Wilton red candy melts

3 oz Wilton orange candy melts

black or brown M&M’s for the snowman’s buttons

small candy eyes

4 small sandwich baggies

kitchen scissors

1-2 foil lined baking sheets

Directions:-

1. Pour each colored candy into a separate microwavable safe dish. Starting with the white candy melts, heat them in 30 second increments, stirring every 30 seconds until melted. Allow to cool 3-4 minutes.

2. Scoop the white chocolate into a sandwich baggie and snip the corner. Gently squeeze the bag and make 3 circles for the snowman’s body on the foil lined baking sheet (see photo). Next, fill in his body with more white chocolate and then give him 2 eyes and some buttons.

3. Repeat step #2 with the rest of the white chocolate making your snowmen then place the baking sheets in the fridge for 10 minutes to set.

4. Heat the black candy melts repeating step #1 and the first part of step #2. Make the outline of a hat near the top of the snowman’s head and then fill in with black chocolate. Repeat with all the snowmen.

5. Next, melt the red candy melts following the previous directions and add to a sandwich baggie and give your snowman a scarf. I simply made a small rectangle at his neck and then went out with it a bit. It doesn’t have to be perfect!

6. Melt the orange chocolate and give each snowman a small nose.

7. Lastly, (and you may have to reheat a bit of the black chocolate and that is OK), give your snowman some arms. THIS is optional. Mine were kind of messy and I felt I couldn’t get them JUST right. They turned out super cute but I had to be very careful not to break them once the chocolate hardened. I think next time I might draw smaller arms ON the snowman’s body versus going out.

Store them in the fridge until ready to serve.
