Best U.S. Spots for a Summer Vacation

Which U.S. summer vacation spot should you visit this year? Many of us are asking the same question. With so many incredible cities, towns, and national parks easily accessible across the nation, choosing a single destination can be tough. However, at the end of the day, you’ve got to pick your spot and book your trip – but where should you go? And how you even begin to prep for a summer vacation?

If you’re stumped and need some recommendations, I’m here to help! These are just a few of my favorite U.S. spots to spend a summer vacation:

YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK

For the ultimate Americana experience, spend some time in one of the nation’s incredible national parks. Yellowstone is one of the most widely-recognized and often-visited by travelers, and it’s easy to see why. The park is home to Old Faithful, the impressive geyser, as well as some of the country’s most remarkable hiking, wildlife viewing, and outdoor experiences. Whether you choose to camp, stay at a local lodge or hotel, or rent a nearby cabin for a more rustic experience, you’ll make some incredible memories during your summer stay.

BOSTON

Looking to spend a few days exploring a city this summer? Look no farther than Boston. This urban center boasts a rich history as one of America’s earliest cities, and you’ll see evidence of it today as you walk along the Freedom Trail. Aside from the history, Boston is also home to great dining, world-class breweries and cocktail bars, incredible museums and theaters, and plenty of transit options to help you get around town. And during the summer, Boston really shines – from outdoor dining opportunities to art- and culture-focused festivals and events, there’s almost guaranteed to be something special happening while you’re here.

THE OUTER BANKS, NORTH CAROLINA

It’s easy to see why the Outer Banks is one of the most-loved summer destinations in the country. These barrier islands are home to quiet seaside towns and villages, historic lighthouses, picture-perfect wild horses, and some of the most stunning beaches in America. You’ll enjoy plenty of fresh seafood, lots of piers to walk down and sand dunes to climb, and more – just keep an eye on the forecast if your visit is planned during hurricane season.

SEATTLE

This northwestern city is known for the amount of rainfall it receives each year, but you’d be surprised to see how bright and sunny it generally stays during the summer months! The city itself has so much to offer between restaurants, museums and art galleries, concerts and theater shows, and other enticing activities – not to mention farmers’ markets, locally-owned boutiques, and so much more. But it’s also a great spot to go if you’re interested in spending some time in nature. Whether you’re satisfied with a quick trip on the ferry or you’re craving a challenging hike up a mountain, you’ll be happy with what you find in Seattle during the summer.

Of course, there are plenty of other great American cities and towns to enjoy during the warm summer season – but these rise above the rest as some of the top destinations you can enjoy, alone or with family.
