I love ice-cream. I mean, who really doesn’t love ice-cream? I scream, you scream, we all SCREAM for ice-cream. Whenever you visit my home, you can always find a tub of ice-cream in my freezer, but every once in a while I want a special treat, something unique and special, so you may find me at one of my favorite ice-cream haunts, Baskin-Robbins. While Baskin-Robbins has been celebrating ALL MONTH LONG with new releases which I will share with you in a minute, today however is National Ice-Cream Day. Today they will be donating 75 cents for every ice-cream float sold, to the United Service Organizations (USO) in honor of it’s 75th anniversary and steadfast commitment to supporting our nation’s military throughout their service, and in honor of all service members, veterans and their families. Being a military family, I support anything that has to do with the USO. While they are on almost every military installation, you may also find them at select airports, and they are also located in a few select countries. Whenever I travel I always seek out the nearest USO because I know that I’m with “family”.
The USO is a private, non-profit organization and not a government agency despite what a few people may think, so they depend a lot upon donations. Their programs, services and even their entertainment tours are only made possible by the American people, support of corporate partners and the dedication of their volunteers and staff. To join in their important mission or to even learn more about the USO, please visit uso.org.
This month Baskin-Robbins introduced a introduced a new ice-cream flavor, the USO Patriot Pop®. The new USO Patriot Pop flavor, which is red, white and blue and features cherry, lemon and blue raspberry-flavored ices can be enjoyed by the scoop or in a refreshing float. Madison and I were lucky enough to give it a try, Madison got the scoop while I tried the float and I can say that it was refreshingly good.
Baskin-Robbins has also introduced a new Polar Pizza. What’s a Polar Pizza you ask? The Polar Pizza is an ice cream treat that you can actually eat like a pizza and it is available in four delicious featured flavor combinations: OREO® Cookies ‘N Cream, Peanut Butter ‘n Chocolate and REESE’S® Peanut Butter Cup, Jamoca® Almond Fudge and HEATH®, and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. You also have the option to create a customized Polar Pizza by combining a tasty Chocolate Chip Cookie or Double Fudge Brownie crust with your favorite ice cream flavor and any combination of fun toppings. If you’d love to give it a try, I’ve included a special coupon that you can click and print so you can get some extra savings.
If those aren’t sweet enough for you, the new July Flavor of the Month is the OREO® Birthday Cake which features chocolate cake-flavored ice cream with Birthday Cake OREO® cookie pieces, frosting bits, and a candy confetti ribbon. This flavor can also be enjoyed by the scoop in a cup, cone, or as a milkshake. In addition, you can upgrade to a free, freshly-baked waffle cone with the purchase of a double scoop of your favorite flavor.
Now the Baskin-Robbins and USO collaboration is most certainly one that I can get behind. I’m getting a sweet treat and I’m helping out my fellow service members. Service members draw strength from connecting with the things they love and fight for – and one of the best ways to show our appreciation as a nation is through messages of support and gratitude. We at Growing Up Madison are asking everyone to take a moment out of their busy day to thank the more than 1.3 million active duty service members around the world. To do so visit www.uso.org/baskin-robbins, we are hoping that they will receive more than 1 MILLION messages of support.
Now head out to Baskin-Robbins today and get your USO Patriot Pop. After all, it’s National Ice-Cream Day!
