You’re probably saying, a Fashion Wednesday? We usually bring these posts to you on Fridays but we couldn’t resist this one. With the summer officially here parents take a lot more care in protecting their little ones from the suns damaging rays. Parents stock up on sunscreen, put on the sunglassess and of course wear a hat. Preferably a cute one. When the makers of The Little Hat Shop asked if I would be willing to take a look at their hats mommy and I hesitated for a bit. Why you asked? Well mommy and I saw that they were knitted and of course like most people, we thought that knitted hats are perfect for the fall/winter/spring seasons. Well Jan one of the owners of The Little Hat Shop reassured us that the Little Hat Shop, not only do they use a variety of yarns, they also use cotton which is perfect for the summer. We were sold then. Bring on the hats!

The Little Hat Shop is a family owned business that has been making hand made hats and accessories for babies and adults for the past fourteen years. Based in Seattle they specialize in children’s hats and all their hats are hand crocheted in the West Coast! Now don’t worry, there is also a Canadian store for you Canadians as well. Check out The Little Hat Shop Canada.

Mommy and I were sent two of their delightful hats and we were pleasantly surprised at the attention to detail. You fashionistas know that a hat can make or break an outfit but you don’t need to worry about that. They have something for everyone! As I mentioned before, each of these hats are hand made so you are getting a one of a kind hat. They also do custom orders for those who want to be especially unique. Just check out the details on my hats. AMAZING!

Our hats are made of the finest cotton and there was not a thread out of place. Trust me, we looked. If you do want to make sure that your hats last for a very long time though, there are a few care instructions you should pay attention to. While these hats are certainly machine washable with mild soap, for the heavy weight cotton ones that is, it is best to use the gentle/short cycle. The preferred method of cleaning though is by spot cleaning and of course air drying keeps it in shape and lasting longer.

They are really great for protecting your little one and yourself from the damaging rays of the sun. Now if you are worried about what size to order there is a sizing chart that helps you with your order. I am only more than happy to share that with you so you can order one today!

  • XXS – about 12 inches, Preemies to newborn
  • XS – 14″ Newborn to 6 months
  • S – 15″ Approx 6 – 9 months
  • M – 18″ Approx 10 – 18 months
  • L – 20″ Approx 2-3 years (can stretch to fit up to 5 years old)
  • XL – 21″ Fit big kids to adult
  • XXL – 22″ Adult

I am wearing the size Large which can go up to 5 years and as you can see it fits great! There is actually room for mommy to pull it down further on my head, but I didn’t want it covering my eyes. Now the fit would also depend on how your hair is styled. Mine is braided so that it fits better. Pony-tails may not look as nice. They are definitely top quality hats and I can’t begin to say how happy I am that I was sent them. Can you tell? Do you see the smiles on my face? I don’t usually smile but I just love these hats.

There is quite a variety to choose from ranging from Fruits and Veggies, Animals and even Headbands for the girls. Don’t worry the boys weren’t left out, there is quite a section for the boys as well appropriately named Daddy’s Little Man. For the even smaller ones like your newborns there are crocheted booties in their shoe section. I did tell you that there is something for everyone didn’t I?  Well what are you waiting for? Go and check out The Little Hat Shop today! They certainly get my TWO TINY THUMBS UP!
