Am I the only one who enjoys smelling like food? If you’re a gourmand lover like I am, then you’re going to love this fragrance, A Whiff of Waffle Cone by the niche fragrance house, Imaginary Authors.
Every two weeks, I want to introduce you to a new fragrance from both niche and designer fragrance houses. While I love my niche fragrances, the price points for niche perfumes can be a bit out of reach for some, if not most. However, there are some great designer houses that have amazing perfumes that not only have great longevity but sillage as well.
While today’s fragrance is from a niche house, the price point for this scent, A Whiff of Waffle Cone, is one of the most affordable I’ve come across from a niche fragrance house in quite a long time. Imaginary Authors is a US-based perfumerie out of Portland, Oregon, and why not support local?

A Whiff of Waffle Cone is a collaboration between Imaginary Authors and the Portland, Oregon ice cream shop Salt & Straw. While visiting Portland last year, I was able to grab a cone from Salt & Straw, and it was love at first lick. However, it wasn’t until very recently I learned of Imaginary Authors and their collaboration with Salt & Straw, and a gourmand fragrance lover; I just had to get my hands on A Whiff of Waffle Cone after seeing the ingredients listed on the website and bottle.
First, let’s talk about the presentation. This comes in a book-like box that reminisces of the classics you may have read as a kid. While the world is going mostly digital, I thoroughly enjoy going through the pages of an actual book every once in a while. The perfume bottle is nestled within its pages, just waiting for you to sample.
Now let’s talk about the scent!
A Whiff of Waffle Cone is an oriental vanilla fragrance that not only smells delectable but will have you yearning for a scoop of vanilla ice-cream in a waffle cone, of course. It might even bring back memories of visiting an ice-cream parlor and getting your favorite scoop of ice-cream.
According to the bottle, these are the ingredients:

- Heavy Cream
- Salted Caramel
- Amyris
- Orgeat
- Saigon Cinnamon
- Ice Cream Shoppe
The opening on me started off sweet and dries down to a rich, creamy vanilla scent. It’s a sweet vanilla with a caramel note that has a hint of woodiness and a great introduction to vanilla fragrances. The longevity on this is almost eternal and lasted on my skin well over 8hrs, and I could smell it the next day on my clothing. And that was with just 2 spritzes from the atomizer. I could only imagine if I had overspray, as I’m prone to do.
