If you’re looking for a way to give back to your community, consider supporting veterans. There are dozens of organizations dedicated to helping those who served our nation, and there are a surprising number of veterans out there who could use a hand. From fundraising and volunteering to purchases that support great causes, here are just a few ways we can all support veterans:
Volunteer Your Time With A Veteran-Focused Organization.
With so many nonprofits dedicated to helping veterans, it’s easy to find a way to volunteer – virtually or in person. You don’t have to be a mental health expert, a doctor, or an architect to support these groups. Instead, each offers a variety of opportunities to get involved. Visit their websites to see how you can get involved today!
Donate to Charities that Support Veterans in Need.
If you don’t have the time or ability to volunteer your time or energy, there are other ways to support veterans – like making a financial contribution to charities that do great work in this space. Many groups focused on helping veterans rely on donations from the public to fuel their efforts, and your contribution can make a significant difference.

Buy Blue Buffalo®!
Yes, that’s right! Recently, Blue Buffalo® partnered with Sierra Delta, an organization that helps veterans get service dogs. It’s a worthy cause, although I might be biased – I’m a veteran and have two service dogs of my own, Bentley and Ella. Having served in the army for many years, upon leaving I was diagnosed with depression, and owning a therapy dog was recommended. I got two of them and they’ve been such blessings and valued members of my family.
For every purchase of BLUE Life Protection Formula™ or BLUE Wilderness™ dry food during the month of November, Blue Buffalo® will donate $1 for every small bag of food sold, up to $275,000, to Sierra Delta Service Dogs for Heroes. That kind of money could make a huge difference for this organization and help them get service dogs to so many veterans who could benefit from them. You can find Blue Buffalo® and BLUE Wilderness™ products in your local Walmart in the pet aisle. Or, to bypass social distancing, add the product to your shopping cart by clicking here.
As an army veteran myself, I can say with certainty that there’s such a need out there for service dogs – but only 1 in 150 vets who needs one has one. For many veterans, the process of getting a service dog is too complicated or expensive to navigate. And for those who are lucky enough to get a service dog, few actually get the support they need to make the most of that relationship. That’s why Sierra Delta stepped in. By increasing access to service dogs and improving efficiency throughout the process, Sierra Delta is committed to helping more veterans get the help they need – and saving large adoptable rescue dogs in the process.
I know I’ll definitely be adding Blue Buffalo® to my cart this November to support the cause. Recently, my pups got to try BLUE Wilderness™ High Protein Grain Free Natural Adult Dry Dog Food. Bentley and Ella would highly recommend it – and so would I! There’s no chicken by-product meals, no corn, no wheat, no soy, and no artificial flavors or preservatives, which I appreciate. Instead, it’s filled with protein-rich meats like bison, duck, salmon, beef, and chicken. In other words, the foods my pups need. After all, dogs do need a protein-rich diet – and BLUE Wilderness™ High Protein Grain Free Natural Adult Dry Dog Food checks that box!
