If you’re looking to curate your designer handbag collection, I’m sharing the only four designer handbags that you really need in your collection.
Designer fashion comes and goes, and when it comes to designer handbags, you don’t need to get them all. I love handbags and I like to say that you can never have too many of them. However, the price can add up quickly. For example, that Chanel classic that you may have been eyeing for many years has been increasing in price year over year. When I purchased my first Chanel bag, I paid under $4,000. Today, the price for a classic medium is now $8800, with increases happening yearly. However, the Chanel Classic is one bag that I recommend that every woman have in her wardrobe. But what are the other three?
For this post, I wanted to focus on bags that are available and I’ll be sharing a bag in four separate categories. If I were to start my luxury handbag collection all over again, these are the four handbags that I would definitely purchase.
Travel/Commute Bag
As someone who enjoys travel, and someone who only travels with a carry-on, I needed a bag that was big enough to fit all my travel essentials. If you’re not familiar with essentials, I carry around my 16″ Macbook Pro, iPad Pro 12.9, passports, my digital camera and so much more. I don’t pack my electronics in my carry-on, as there are times when an airline will sometimes ask you to check your carry-on, In that case, my electronics are safe with me. The LV On the Go is big enough to hold them all and so much more. I’ve been using it since 2019 and it has held up to me tossing it, overpacking it, etc, and it’s still in great condition.
Work/Evening Bag
If you’re looking for the perfect bag for an evening out with that special someone, then the YSL LouLou Medium is just the bag for you. It’s classic and timeless, casual and yet elegant, and can transition from day to night easily. This is the bag that you can take to work and, with a simple wardrobe switch or not, take to dinner as well. It’s very versatile and comes in both gold and silver hardware.
Casual/Everyday Bag
This is your ride-and-die everyday grab-and-go bag. It’s the bag you grab when you’re simply heading to a supermarket or that Target run. The Chloe Small Tess might have the word small in it, but it’s big enough to hold all your essentials. Your wallet, phone, and car keys. You can even toss in hand sanitizer and lipgloss, as there’s still lots of space for more of the things you need to have with you. It’s very versatile and can be held crossbody or by the top handle and because it’s black, it will match your entire wardrobe.
Special Event
This one is a timeless classic that is never going to go out of style. If you’re starting your designer bag journey, it can be your most expensive purchase, but it’s also the one I recommend that you save for. I have this in both black and white, but it’s available in different materials and colors. While this bag is very versatile, it’s also not one that you want to wear every day. This is for your special event, like anniversaries, weddings, etc., and one I consider an investment. Chanel prices have been increasing year over year, and now is a good time to get it if you can. I’ve been lucky to purchase all my Chanels’ on international trips, as getting into a store locally can be tough if you don’t have a store in your city as they’re not sold online.
While there is no such thing as the perfect collection, it’s always a good idea to curate your collection. However, I would recommend that you save for the bag that you want.
