3 Ways to Encourage Reading at Home

Madison loves to read, and I’ve been instilling that love since she was a baby. I would sit with her, and we would read as many books as we can. Now that she’s older, she has quite a library collection and would bring a book each day so that we can continue our reading together. It’s also part of our bedtime ritual to read a book every night. I’m hoping that her love of reading would continue for years to come. Reading not only helps with her vocabulary but her speech as well. In partnership with Radio Flyer, I want to share three easy ways you can encourage reading at home with your own kids.

1. Be the example

Kids love to emulate their parents, so if they see you reading, then they will more than likely want to read as well. Let your children see you reading books and encourage them to read along with you.

2. Make time for reading

Set aside a set time daily for reading that your child can look forward to. You can even create an incentive for them that you know they will enjoy. Kids love rewards, and rewarding them for a job well done is a great way to get them to reading.

3. Have books that your kids would love to read

If your child loves fairies and princesses, get books about fairies and princesses. Personalized books are always a good choice. Children feel as though they’re in the story and love knowing that the story is all about them.

In celebration of their 100th anniversary, Radio Flyer launched a fully customizable children’s book in collaboration with I See Me. The book My Radio Flyer Adventure allows you to choose your child’s name, hair color, skin tone, and Radio Flyer product in the story. You even get to compose a dedication for your child.

For 100 years, Radio Flyer has been powering play and inspiring imagination in kids of all ages; after all, they’re world’s leading builders of wagons, tricycles, pre-school scooters, and other ride-ons.

For the holidays, Radio Flyer’s will be holding daily holiday sweepstakes, the “Radio Flyer’s 25 Days of Holiday Giveaways”. Each day for 25 days, you can enter the sweepstakes on Radio Flyer’s website to win the product of that day’s giveaway.

And to encourage your own kids to read at home, you can order their very own My Radio Flyer Adventure and use code ANNMARIE15 to receive 15% off your order.
