My son Mikael just recently celebrated a birthday. As an autistic child he’s exceptionally brilliant in some areas but unlike his age, he has the mental capacity of an 8 year old. However, whenever it comes to making and building things he’s a genius. You might remember me telling you about him taking things apart and always having to keep an eye on him so that my expensive electronics don’t disappear. Well if you have little ones who have way more time on their hands, spend way too much time on their mobile devices, need some motivation and a bit of excitement, the K’NEXT Wild Whiplash Roller Coaster Building Set might be just what they need for the holidays.
About K’NEX:
When K’NEX LPG was founded in 1992 we didn’t set out to become an educational toy company, all we wanted to do was show kids that the only limit to building was the size of your imagination! Twenty-five years later, K’NEX prides itself on connecting science, technology, engineering, arts, and math with imagination. STEMagination can be found in every K’NEX set and with it your building dreams become a fun-powered 3-D reality! Winner of over 380 awards and recognitions, the K’NEX product line has building toys specially designed for every age group and skill level. From the living room to the board room, we are proud to help build the leaders of tomorrow!
The K’NEX Wild Whiplash Roller Coaster Building Set stands at over 2 1/2 feet tall and is a motorized chain-lift carnival themed roller coaster that contains more than 580 parts, including over 14 feet of track and a motorized chain lift. It took Mikael a few days to actually put it together since he received it while school was in session. However if you have a weekend free, I would say put it together on a weekend and it will possibly take about an hour or two, depending on how fast you are, and how good you are with reading instructions. It was a lot of fun building a real working roller coaster and the step by step building instructions made it easy to follow.
This is the perfect set for siblings since it can get them working together towards a common goal. When was the last time siblings actually worked together and enjoyed it? Madison helped passed the parts to Mikael, while Mikael fit the pieces together. I’m all about STEM fun and this is one toy that fits the bill.
This set does however require 2 AA batteries not included so remember to get your batteries or it won’t be that much fun. The K’NEX Wild Whiplash Roller Coaster Building Set provided hours of fun for both kids but be careful because since it’s made of durable plastic, the pieces can disconnect if you are rough with it.
The set is recommended for ages 9+ but can be used with younger kids with adult supervision. Since the pieces are small, you may want to keep this away from babies/toddlers since it can pose a choking hazard.
If you’re into STEM education, I highly suggest the K’NEX Wild Whiplash Roller Coaster Building Set available exclusively at Walmart.
