The Best Colorado Cities for Foodies

What are the best Colorado cities for Foodies?

Vail - Colorado Foodie City

Some people travel to explore new landscapes, filling their itineraries with hikes and adventures. Others travel to relax, wanting nothing more than a comfortable beach chair, a nearby body of water, and a cocktail in hand.

But some travel for food. That’s right – there are many foodies out there who would love nothing more than to plan a vacation around all the best restaurants, bars, bakeries, and cafes they can find. Some people even travel across the world to indulge in their favorite foods, like sushi in Japan.

But you don’t have to go across the world to find great spots for foodies to vacation. In fact, you can find plenty of great cities for foodies to visit in Colorado – surprisingly enough. While Colorado might not be known as a culinary capital, it has a surprising amount to offer. Originally making a name for itself through farm-to-table cuisine, Colorado has expanded over the years to embrace a variety of culinary types and traditions.

These are just a few of the cities foodies won’t want to leave off their Colorado itineraries:

Best Colorado Cities for Foodies

Boulder

Boulder enjoyed a moment in the spotlight a few years ago as one of the most renowned foodie cities in the nation. While its reputation has calmed down a bit, there’s no denying it’s a great spot to go if you love to eat. You’ll find a wide variety of food – authentic Chinese, Nepalese, French, Indian, not to mention some of the best seafood and sushi in Colorado. It’s also a hotspot for coffee-lovers, with a number of local roasters and coffee shops that pride themselves on ethically-sourced, top-quality beans. And if you’re in the mood for a cocktail? Spots like Oak won’t disappoint.

Aspen

The vacation destination of the rich and famous, it’s no surprise to learn Aspen’s food scene is one of the best in the state. You’ll find a number of elevated dining options for those looking for a refined experience – world-class sushisteak and lobster dinners, and more await. But if you aren’t looking for something fancy, you don’t have to worry. You’ll also find great barbeque, crepes, coffee, and more. Reservations are always recommended in this luxurious spot for the ultra-wealthy.

Denver

The biggest city in the state is guaranteed to serve up virtually anything you’re craving, if you’re willing to look. You’ll find everything from ultra-trendy food halls like Avanti, American-style bistros, classy steakhouses, and upscale international-inspired fare to hole-in-the-wall joints selling the best burritos, pizza by the slice, and other street food favorites. With a number of James Beard winners and other award-winning chefs calling Denver home, you don’t have to look too far to find a world-class meal.

There are a number of other Colorado cities with restaurants worth talking about. Louisville, Lafayette, Colorado Springs, and Fort Collins have lots to offer, and spots like Palisade (home of Colorado’s wine country), Frisco (situated near Breckenridge and Vail), and Nederland (just outside Boulder) are home to some truly hidden gems. But if you’re hoping to enjoy a food-filled vacation in Colorado, you can’t go wrong with these three culinary destinations!
